What OSRS Market AI’s price data can tell you

A price chart is evidence about observed trades, not a promise about your next offer. Understanding the source and time window matters as much as the number itself.

Where the data comes from

OSRS Market AI requests market information from the OSRS Wiki price services and Weird Gloop historical API. The Wiki’s real-time dataset is based on trade observations reported through RuneLite. The application combines price history, recent activity and game-update context for its AI explanations.

Read the source documentation at OSRS Wiki real-time prices, Weird Gloop API and RuneLite. The site is an independent consumer of these services, not their operator.

Compare like with like

Different windows can summarize different trades. A daily historical point, a recent time bucket and a latest observed price need not match. Select the same time period before comparing two items, and keep the distinction between a long trend and a short move.

Trading activity is useful context, but it is not a live order book. Observations do not reveal every buyer’s limit price, every pending offer or the quantity you personally can fill.

Missing observations are not a zero price

If an item has sparse activity or a feed fails to respond, there may be too little evidence for a useful conclusion. Recheck the source, the item variant and the selected period. Treat missing or implausible values as a reason to investigate, not an automatic buying signal.

What the AI adds

The assistant translates selected item data into an explanation and can compare possible reasons for a move. It does not place trades, know your exact in-game offers or guarantee the direction of the market. Its prose may overstate a pattern or misinterpret context.

A useful follow-up is: “Which parts of your answer come directly from the price data, and which are hypotheses?” Check statements about updates against the original announcement before treating them as a reason to trade.
